Deals this week: Raytheon Missile Systems, Saab, Kelvin Hughes

 

Raytheon Missile Systems has been awarded a $77m contract by US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for work on the Evolved SeaSparrow Missile (ESSM) Block 2 missiles. The company is expected to provide engineering services, test equipment, materials and management for the low-rate initial production of ESSM Block 2 missiles as part of the arrangement.

Work under the contract is slated to be completed in December 2020.

Saab has secured a contract from the US Navy to supply the Sea Giraffe AMB (AN/SPS-77) radar system to the Philippine Navy as part of a foreign military sales (FMS) programme.

The Sea Giraffe AMB solutions will be installed on-board the Philippine Navy’s BRP Gregorio del Pilar (FF-15) and BRP Ramon Alcaraz (FF-16) frigates.

The sale also includes the supply of the 9LV naval combat system, which provides improved situational awareness.

UK-based maritime navigation, surveillance and security radar systems provider Kelvin Hughes has received a contract to supply SharpEye solid-state naval radar sensors for the US Navy’s littoral combat ship USS Nantucket (LCS 27).

The SharpEye X-band and S-band sensors will be integrated into the IMO-certified OSI Bridge and Navigation system to deliver a coastal surveillance capability for the vessel, which is currently in its pre-production phase.

General Dynamics Electric Boat has been awarded a contract modification worth $16.64m from Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Conversion and Repair for the development of an air-conditioning unit component.

The air-conditioning device will be installed on-board the Block V Virginia-class fast-attack submarines upon completion.

Work under the contract is set to be performed until September 2021 in York, Pennsylvania, and Groton, Connecticut.

L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace LLC has been awarded a contract modification worth $42.35m by the US Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) for the supply of depot-level logistics support services.

The company will provide organisational and depot-level logistics services for the US Navy’s TH-57 Sea Ranger helicopter fleet as part of the agreement.

The contractual work will be performed at the Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida.
