Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), GRSE, Honoured as ‘Shipbuilding Leader of the Year’ 2025

Kolkata: Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Shipbuilding Leader of the Year’ award at the National Awards for Excellence 2025 ceremony held at Taj Bengal, Kolkata, on October 7, 2025.

This distinguished recognition celebrates his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to advancing India’s shipbuilding and maritime defence capabilities. Under his stewardship, GRSE has delivered many landmark vessels, including the first Project 17A frigate INS Himgiri, Survey Vessels (Large) (Sandhayak Class), ASW Shallow Water Crafts (Arnala Class), Zero-Emission Electric Ferry ‘Dheu’ and others reinforcing GRSE’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance in defence shipbuilding.

Going forward, he is steering efforts to conclude contract and commence construct five Next Generation Corvettes for Indian Navy, the contract for which shall be signed soon. He has spearheaded the large scale upgradation and modernisation of the RBD shipyard. The development of this facility has led to GRSE undertaking construction of 12 Multi- Purpose Vessels for a German owner. He is heading team steering the development of the new shipyard in line with Prime Minister’s Vision of Samudra se Samriddhi.
