Tel Aviv: Poland is taking the threats on its sovereignty very seriously and is keeping the pace of its weapon systems shopping spree enhanced. Poland has received threats from the Wagner private army and it can turn very fast into hostilities.
According to a report in the website of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Russian military expert Evgeny Mikhailov said in a July 28, 2023 interview on Tsargrad TV (Russia) that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s recent statements about the presence of Wagner PMC forces in Belarus and their desire to go to Poland is an indication that if Poland attempts to realise any of its territorial claims to western Ukraine, Wagner PMC will march on Poland. He said that such an action cannot be done without provocation since it would trigger NATO’s Article V, but that it may happen if “certain prerequisites”.
In this interview, Mikhailov said that Alexander Lukashenko, sent a message to his foreign partners saying that Wagner PMC has a desire to ‘go for a walk’ in Europe, and more precisely in Rzeszow and Warsaw in Poland. “It is an unambiguous hint that was perceived by the Western countries.”
Recently Poland decided to purchase a battle command system that will be used to assist the nation’s Patriot missile defence program. This decision is the latest significant acquisition in Poland’s ongoing arms procurement frenzy.
Only recently Poland signed a contract to buy another batch of Spike anti-tank missiles from Israeli company Rafael.
Israeli sources tell Raksha Anirveda that the Polish ministry of defence is interested in some additional Israeli made defensive and offensive systems. Delegations are expected soon to evaluate some of the systems made by different defence companies.
