Rolls-Royce, Azad Engineering Sign Long-term Agreement to Make Defence Aero-Engine Parts

New Delhi: Aerospace company Rolls-Royce has signed a long-term agreement with Azad Engineering. As per the agreement, critical components maker for global OEMs in energy and aerospace industries, Azad Engineering, will manufacture and supply complex components for defence aircraft engines to Rolls-Royce.

The Hyderabad firm Azad Engineering and Rolls-Royce PLC on January 29 announced the signing of an agreement. “Through this strategic partnership, Azad Engineering will join the global supply chain for complex category components for Rolls-Royce’s technologically advanced aero engines,” the UK-based multinational firm said.

The agreement was a long-term, seven-year contract to produce/supply critical engine parts for the defence/military aircraft engines of Rolls-Royce, Azad Engineering said In a stock exchange filing.

Azad Engineering founder and CEO Rakesh Chopdar said, “We are honoured to be chosen as a strategic partner by Rolls-Royce to make critical and complex components for defence aircraft engines. Bringing these critical components to India not only showcases the capabilities of Azad Engineering, but also represents a pivotal moment for India’s aerospace and defence industry, demonstrating the country’s growing prowess in advanced manufacturing.”

He stated that this collaborative endeavour, therefore, symbolizes a significant leap in India’s journey towards self-reliance in defence capabilities.

Signifying a substantial stride in the manufacturing and supply of intricate components for defence aircraft engine, this strategic collaboration further fortifies Rolls-Royce’s robust ecosystem in India, encompassing strategic local partnerships, joint ventures, a resilient supply chain, a talented workforce, engineering prowess, and advanced digital solutions. Azad Engineering through this pivotal partnership is poised to seamlessly integrate into the global supply chain, specializing in the production of complex components tailored for Rolls-Royce’s cutting-edge aero engines.

Emphasising the indispensable role of collaboration in the company’s triumphant journey in India, Alex Zino, Rolls-Royce’s Executive Vice President, expressed contentment in expanding the supply chain within India in collaboration with Azad Engineering, underlining the sourcing of complex components from India as a crucial step in advancing capability creation in the country.
