New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Noida International Airport in Jewar next month. This airport is set to become India’s largest. The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated Rs 750 crore for its development. The first phase is being built through a public-private partnership. This marks a significant step for civil aviation in the region as per information provided by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
Interacting with the Indian diaspora in Singapore, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Noida International Airport, Jewar, next month. This is about to be the biggest airport in India…”
After a series of delays, the inauguration of the Noida International Airport is set for a March deadline, as Jewar awaits one of India’s biggest airports. The long-overdue project will now have five runways, from the earlier planned two runways.
During a recent press conference, the chief minister had said that the Noida International Airport is almost ready and time has been sought from the prime minister for its inauguration.
Earlier in February, the UP government proposed an outlay of Rs 2,111 crore for the civil aviation sector in the 2026-27. Of the total allocation, Rs 750 crore has been allocated for the development of the Noida International Airport in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
Under the budget, the state government has proposed Rs 1,100 crore for construction, expansion and strengthening of airstrips across the state and for land acquisition.

The first phase of the international airport is being jointly developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, for the state government in a public-private partnership model.
The airport recorded a major milestone on October 31, 2025 with the successful landing of the first calibration flight by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), officials said.
This crucial test is conducted before any new airport becomes operational to verify the accuracy of the airport’s navigation and communication systems.
In the first phase, which will be inaugurated soon, the airport will cover over 1,334 hectares of land with one runway, one terminal building, and a passenger capacity of 12 million annually, officials said earlier.
