Tel Aviv: Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is preparing the prototype of the Gulfstream G-280 executive jet for tests flights.
The Gulfstream G-280 is super midsize business jet developed and manufactured by IAI for Gulfstream Aerospace. IAI builds the airframe at its facility in Tel Aviv, Israel, and then flies the completed but unfinished (“green”) aircraft to Gulfstream’s completion centre in Dallas, Texas, where the interior is fitted and the exterior is painted before final delivery to customers.
According to Yaakov Berkovitz, IAI’s executive VP and general manager of its aviation group, the work on the prototype is almost complete. “We are getting ready for test flights.”
“The upgraded G280 features significant improvements over its predecessor (the G200), including a new wing, advanced avionics, more powerful Honeywell HTF7250G engines, and a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km),” added Berkovitz.
The partnership between IAI and Gulfstream has positioned the G280 as a leading super-midsize jet, recognised for its efficiency, range, and advanced technology. IAI’s ongoing commitment to the program includes continuous upgrades and enhancements to meet evolving customer needs.
The G-280 can fly up to 10 passengers in executive configuration and to a max range with four passengers is 3,600 nautical miles (6,667 km) at Mach 0.80. The aircraft is equipped with the Gulfstream PlaneView 280, based on Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion.
The G-280 is equipped with advanced avionics, steep-approach certification. It is powered by efficient engines, and its cabin is customised for the highest standards of executive jets.
