Tel Aviv: Some Gulf states and at least two European countries are interested in Israeli mass-notification alert system.
The Israeli national missile alert system is very advanced. Since the beginning of the war with Iran, it sends alerts about incoming ballistic missiles and armed drones launched from Iran. The alerts are received by cell phones, TV screen and radio.
Israel’s national missile alert and air-defense architecture use AI to track main radar systems and other sensors used by the Israeli multi-tiered air defence system.
AI-like algorithms are used to classify threats, estimate trajectories, and decide which incoming rockets or missiles are likely to hit populated areas.
Within seconds of launch, AI-powered analysis computes impact zones and threat levels so that the Home Front Command can trigger sirens and mobile-app alerts only in the areas expected to be affected, not nationwide.
As reported by CPM, Israel has developed a sophisticated, multi-layered missile attack alert system for its civilian population, integrating real-time intelligence, automated alerts, and public guidance protocols. These systems are managed primarily by the IDF Home Front Command, which is responsible for civil defence during missile and rocket attacks.
The system uses advance radar and surveillance to detect incoming missiles, drones, and rockets. Once a threat is detected, the Home Front Command issues alerts through several channels:
- The Home Front Command app sends push notifications and instructions.
- Location-based messages are sent to cell phones.
- Traditional air raid sirens sound in affected areas.
- Automated voice announcements, such as the “Red Colour” system, especially in areas near Gaza.
The protocol has evolved in response to recent large-scale missile attacks from Iran. Now, a single alert is issued about 10 minutes before a projected strike, instructing the public to prepare to enter protected spaces.
Upon receiving the siren or SMS, civilians must immediately enter shelters, following standard time-to-shelter guidelines (which vary by region and distance from borders). Exit from shelters is only permitted after receiving an official “all-clear” message.
