BEL Receives Rs 2,463 Crore Order for Ashwini Radars from Indian Air Force

Bengaluru/Delhi: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, valued at Rs 2,463 crore (excluding taxes) for supply and services of Ashwini Radars. 
The contract was signed on March 12 in New Delhi by Dr Ajay Kumar, JS & AM (LS), MoD, and K V Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing), BEL, in the presence of Rajesh Kumar Singh, Defence (Secretary); Samir Kumar Sinha, DG (Acquisition); Sumit Kumar, US (MoD-Air Acquisition); Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, AVSM, VM, DCAS; and other senior officers of the Indian Air Force and BEL.
These fully indigenous Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars, developed jointly by DRDO and BEL, have integrated Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) with electronic scanning in azimuth and elevation and are capable of 4D surveillance. These mobile radars with advanced Electronic Counter-Counter Measures (ECCM) features are deployable on all terrains and can automatically detect and track aerial targets ranging from fighter aircraft to slow moving targets.
Numerous industry partners will participate in the production and supply of the radars. This order reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
With this, BEL has now accumulated orders totalling Rs 17,030 crore in the current financial year.
