Cossipore / Kolkata: Gun and Shell Factory Cossipore (GSF), a unit of the newly formed defence public sector enterprise, namely the Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), celebrated the first Foundation Day in a befitting manner on October 1, 2022 on completion of its one year journey which started on October 1, 2021. All eight units including GSF and its headquarter located at Kanpur (UP) celebrated this day as AWE India Ltd Foundation Day.
On this occasion, the company flag was raised and messages of the CMD and Executive Director were delivered. Employees were rewarded for their outstanding contributions in various areas.
The day also gave the employees an opportunity to reflect upon the accomplishments and achievements of the unit in the very first year of the organisation. During the past one year, the sales of GSF have increased by 62% as compared to the same period of the previous year.
The factory manufactured the entire 81mm Mortar weapon for the first time and started issuing to the Army. The factory has launched a new variant of 0.32” pistol (Ashani MK-III) with enhanced magazine capacity and range. This pistol has received overwhelming response from customers. The factory has completed design of 60mm Mortar and its ammunition. The weapon is currently under firing trial.
With these achievements in a span of one year, GSF is moving in a growth trajectory under AWE India Ltd.
