Tel Aviv. The Americans have increased their “electronic presence” near Iran. Experts say that this activity may indicate the preparation for “different types” of combat activity.

On September 24, a US “compass call” EC-130H aircraft was observed over the southern and eastern areas of Iraq. Knowledgeable sources claim that the aircraft was on an “offensive” mission.

The aircraft took off on September 24 from al-Dhafra air base in Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE. After crossing the Persian Gulf, the aircraft entered Iraqi airspace and flew between the southern province of Basra and the eastern city of Kut, on the line parallel to the Iraq-Iran border.

EC-130H aircraft is a very different version of the C-130 Hercules which is developed to disrupt enemy command and control communications, perform offensive counter-intelligence operations and carry out electronic attacks of various kinds.

The EC-130H Compass Call is an electronic attack aircraft flown by the United States Air Force (USAF). Experts say that the US Air Force EC-130Hs perform missions over the Persian Gulf on a regular basis. Nevertheless, they rarely flew over Iraq.

Pro-Iranian sources claim that the increase in US military and intelligence activity near Iranian borders is an indication of US-Israel preparations for aggressive actions in Iran. Despite this, in the current conditions, an open and open Iran-American conflict in the Persian Gulf region in the near future remains unlikely.

The EC-130H is one of the three main US electronic warfare aircraft, along with the Boeing EA-18 Growler, and F-16CJ Fighting Falcon, all of which can suppress enemy air defenses while jamming communications, radar, and command-and-control targets.
