Tokyo. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced on December 25 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore joint business in selected defence and space fields with Bengaluru-based Bharat Electronics Limited, a leading manufacturer of defense electronics and public systems under the Indian Ministry of Defence, and Bengaluru-based MEMCO Associates (India) Private Limited, a marketing and contract representative of Mitsubishi Electric in India.
The MoU envisages identifying opportunities for the manufacture and supply of customized components for defence and space products, such as modules for shipborne and airborne radars, electronic warfare systems, and space situational awareness systems. Under the terms of the MoU, the companies will strive to optimise the collaboration structure and business model for establishing a cooperative relationship.
Mitsubishi Electric is helping to strengthen Japan’s national security and defence industry, particularly deterrence capabilities, through the use of technology in accordance with the Japanese government’s defence policy.
