New Delhi: As part of Indian Navy’s endeavour of ensuring safe and secure seas, Indian Navy’s indigenously designed and constructed guided missile destroyer INS Chennai is Mission Deployed in the Red Sea.
Towards augmenting the deep-rooted friendly ties and multi-faceted defence cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia, INS Chennai visited Jeddah from August 3-5. The ship was accorded a warm welcome by officials from Royal Saudi Naval forces, Border Guards and the Indian Embassy. During the port call, the Commanding Officer, INS Chennai called on the Commander of Jeddah Border Guards.
Mohd Shahid Alam, CGI Jeddah also visited the ship and was given a brief on the operational capabilities.
On departure from Jeddah, INS Chennai undertook a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Saudi Naval Ship HMS Al Jubail on August 5. The exercise conducted off Jeddah, Saudi Arabia included tactical manoeuvres, seamanship evolutions and communication drills contributed to reinforcing mutual trust, cementing operational understanding, and enhancing interoperability between the two navies.
