Abu Dhabi, UAE. EDGE, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence groups, has signed a contract with global technology group e&, to implement and operate the region’s Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) solution in Abu Dhabi. The agreement was signed by Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer, e& UAE , and Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO, EDGE in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cyber Security Council, at GITEX GLOBAL 2025.
The pioneering UTM solution will provide real-time monitoring, deconfliction, and traffic coordination across multiple drone operators, enabling safer skies and more efficient use of unmanned systems for activities such as emergency response, environmental monitoring, logistics, and smart city services.
Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer, e& UAE said “By pairing e& UAE’s resilient 5.5G, cloud and cybersecurity capabilities with EDGE’s advanced UTM platform, Abu Dhabi is bringing a regulated digital airspace to life. Government entities and licensed operators will gain real-time situational awareness, keep drones safely separated to avoid mid-air collisions, and enable secure data exchange, supporting faster emergency response, safer logistics, and new smart-city services delivered at scale, under clear governance and with privacy by design.”
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO, EDGE, said: “This agreement with e& marks a major step forward in creating a fully regulated, safe, and innovative airspace environment in the UAE. By enabling the seamless integration of drones into national airspace, the UTM solution will not only enhance public services, such as emergency response and infrastructure inspection, but also ensure that operators, regulators, and government authorities have the tools to manage them securely and efficiently. Together, we are helping to make the UAE a pioneer nation in smart, autonomous, and AI-driven technologies, fully aligned with the strategic ambitions of the UAE.”
The deployment of the UTM solution reflects not only a leap forward in airspace management, but also in the way the UAE harnesses technology to deliver tangible benefits to society. Fully aligned with the nation’s Industry 4.0 vision, the programme accelerates the deployment of smart and autonomous systems, enhances sovereign capability, and directly supports the objectives of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) in Abu Dhabi by enabling the safe integration of next-generation technologies into everyday life.
