BonV Aero Enters US Defence Market, Strengthening India–US Defence Cooperation

Date:

New Delhi: BonV Aero, an Indian OEM of dual-use heavy-lift aerial mobility platform, has officially entered the US market through the I2A Launchpad, an India–US Defence Acceleration Platform managed by FedTech and Indus Bridge Ventures. This marks a significant step in BonV Aero’s strategy to expand beyond India and integrate with the US defence and commercial ecosystems.

By joining the I2A Launchpad, BonV Aero is positioning itself within the framework of the US–India Autonomous Systems Industry Alliance (ASIA) and the COMPACT initiative, which aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in defence and critical infrastructure. This strategic alignment underscores the company’s focus on leveraging defence and technology ties between the two nations.

Satyabrata Satpathy, CEO of BonV Aero, highlighted the broader significance of this expansion, stating, “Entering the US market is more than just business growth. It is a step towards deeper collaboration in defence, disaster response and homeland security. We seek partnerships that drive co-development and interoperability.”

BonV Aero’s expansion aligns with India’s recent push to support defence startups through initiatives like Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) and Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020. These government-led efforts are designed to foster innovation and self-reliance within the domestic defence sector while enabling Indian companies to engage in global partnerships.

Strengthening ties between India and the US under the Quad and iCET (Critical and Emerging Technology) frameworks reflects this strategic push. This milestone also reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s shared vision with President Donald Trump, which is to establish a trusted and resilient innovation and defence partnership.

BonV Aero’s US entry showcases the tangible outcomes of enhanced bilateral cooperation in defence and technology, reinforcing the growing strategic alignment between the world’s two largest democracies.

Baibhav Patel, Manager – Government Affairs & Public Policy at BonV Aero, emphasised the company’s unique position, stating, “This is a direct outcome of policy vision being translated into commercial and strategic reality, INDUS-X and the recently announced INDUSWERX are shaping a powerful innovation corridor between India and the US, and BonV is one of the earliest Indian companies to walk that path. Our team is actively engaging with US defence ecosystems—from testbeds to potential sponsors—to accelerate certification and operational readiness.”

As part of its expansion strategy, BonV Aero will showcase its technology at XPONENTIAL 2025 in Houston, a major global event for autonomous and unmanned systems. The company is actively working toward securing certifications under US defence and homeland security standards, signalling its readiness to become a key player in the global UAV landscape.
