Elbit Systems Awarded a $25 Million Contract to Supply Communications Systems to Finland

Haifa, Israel: The Finnish army will procure a very advanced tactical communication systems made by Israeli Elbit Systems. The company was awarded a contract valued at approximately $25 million from the Finnish Ministry of Defence to supply radio communications systems to the Finnish Army. The contract will be executed over a two-year period.

Under the contract, Elbit Systems will supply advanced secured radio communications systems that enable enhanced tactical command and fire control and are backward compatible with analogue radio equipment that is currently in use by the Finnish Army. Military radio communications solutions of Elbit Systems have been selected to-date by several European and NATO countries including Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Canada, Spain and others.

The communication systems to be supplied to Finland will be based on the technologies of Elbit’s E-LynX family of mobile tactical radio solutions. According to Elbit, the E-LynX combat-proven network solutions enable end-users at all echelons to seamlessly interconnect with all network resources using IP-based routing for reliable voice and data sessions at an extended range.

Based on powerful, advanced software-defined radio (SDR) technology, the multi-band, multi-waveform tactical IP radios offer enhanced capabilities that enable simultaneous data and multiple voice sessions in both wideband and narrowband waveforms on a single RF infrastructure. Multi-hop mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) capabilities provide continuous IP connectivity with extended coverage. Unique concurrent flooding techniques provide a robust and stable network, with GPS-independent synchronization and no single point of failure.

The E-Lynx SDR platform provides a dynamic solution adapted to any terrain or mission, improving operational efficiency and connectivity to support various platforms and mobile tactical needs. According to the company, the secure battlefield network solutions provide superior combat awareness without compromising on user experience.
