Bengaluru: Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed an MoU with Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) for joint development of products/solutions in the area of Autonomous Navigation and associated fields.
The MoU aims at leveraging the complementary strengths and capabilities of BEL and GSL. It will enable BEL and GSL to jointly work towards development of products/solutions in the fields of autonomously navigated vessels and derivatives thereof, digital control and simulation of ships, networking of vessels and any other identified area for both Defence and civilian applications in domestic and international markets.
Manoj Jain, Director (R&D), BEL, and Capt (Retd.) Jagmohan, Director (CPP&BD), Goa Shipyard Limited, exchanged the MoU signed between BEL and GSL at DefExpo 2022, in the presence of senior officers of BEL.
GSL is one of India’s premier Defence Shipyard having modern infrastructure and capability of designing and building sophisticated high technology defence vessels with a track record of execution and timely deliveries and is presently the largest exporter of Defence ships in the Indian sub- Continent. GSL’s proven product range includes multiple variants of Offshore Patrol Vessels, Fast Patrol Vessels, Extra Fast Attack crafts, Missile Boats, Survey Vessels, LCUs, etc. GSL’s core competency is its in-house design capability with development of new designs of various platforms through its Research & Development (R&D). GSL has built and delivered 227 ships and over 150 GRP boats to various customers and has earned the unique distinction of delivering Quality Ships/Projects ahead of the contractual schedule.
